This 4th floor 1,500SF private rooftop was transformed from an unfinished “blank space” to the client’s favorite place. Chicago Roof Deck developed several highly finished outdoor rooms conducive of serious entertaining as well as intimate relaxation.

The operable shade structure covering the lounge area and kitchen offers extended use of the space during inclimate weather.  With a touch of a button the operable louvers fully close offering protection from rain, sun and the elements.

A number of decking materials have been explored to define each “room”. Porcelain tile was featured in the dining area where synthetic decking defines the lounge space and synthetic turf softens the rooftop as the “yard”. Rooms were further defined through the use of planters and lush vegetation.

Cladding of the kitchen backsplash and large planters with playful porcelain tile was a fun detail, which the client loves.
