When asked where one finds inspiration, a lot of people answer “Through traveling”. When people are asked what they are most passionate about, they often respond “I love to travel”. And since people really value their traveling experiences, it should be no surprise that they will often spend a little extra to stay at a great spot while on the go. After all, you’re not going to skimp on one of your most passionate facets of life, right?
Hotels know this all too well, and it’s for that very reason that they are constantly raising the bar to create a space that is both inviting and inspiring! Great service, great food and drink options, great gyms, great interior design, great location, great views, and of course great outdoor spaces all contribute to what makes a hotel experience truly exceptional. While we certainly haven’t been to every hotel across the globe, here is a small list of some of the hotels or resorts throughout the world with the most impressive roof decks according to us. (Spoiler Alert: Asia is the place to be)
Azul on the Rooftop at Hotel Hugo, NYC puts a new spin on swanky outdoor living. With a solid view of Manhattan’s skyline, some funky art, colorful and eclectic furniture, it should be obvious while this spot is the cat’s pajamas! Baba Nest at Sri Panwa Resort, Phuket, Thailand features a floating deck that overlooks the Andaman Sea with low tables and pillow-type seats perfect for lounging around and watching the sun set. Cindy’s Rooftop Bar & Terrace at The Chicago Athletic Association in Chicago offers spectacular views of Millennium Park and Lake Michigan. The Large Drum Fire-pits certainly don’t hurt either. Gallow Green Roof Deck at The McKittrick Hotel in NYC adds plenty of green to the ‘concrete jungle’. A very symmetrical Radio Rooftop Bar in London offers a stylish and contemporary alternative to the all-so-common dimly light pubs that are scattered across the city, perfect for a night of celebration. The infinity pool that runs the length of the Roof Deck of SkyPark at Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Singapore will take your breath away and might in turn give you vertigo. The Roof Deck Cafe at SoHo House West Hollywood is filled with large olive trees with suspended lanterns and fun tropical leaf-print chair cushions. Basically, it’s a pretty great place to kick back and watch celebs roll in. Ubud Hanging Gardens, Bali, Indonesia. While technically not a “roof deck” the waterfall terrace/pool is pretty epic and thus makes the list! Not a bad view. Vertigo & Moon Bar, banyan Tree Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand. Hangover 2 anyone? Wet Deck at the W Barcelona. This pool deck, with it’s cool indoor/outdoor structure, pure white lounge chairs, and an unobstructed view of the water (palm trees galore) this is where you want to recharge…
Well, I officially have the travel bug…
