Blessed with a beautiful side yard and coach house, our client was ready to update their existing deck. However, it wasn’t as simple as a repair and replacement. Through further investigation, CRDG determined that steel reinforcement was necessary in order to provide the proper support for a roof deck and meet city requirements. In order to install steel beams that float above the existing roof, the addition of 4 steel columns was necessary. The columns had to be installed within the structure of the coach house, spanning from the ground level to the 3rd floor. Not an easy task! A walkable skylight was also incorporated to create a more usable area in a confined space. Custom metal railing complimented the existing railing on the house and porcelain tiles were the final piece to the low maintenance space. The improved roof deck makes for a nice oasis overlooking the yard.
